Baccarat basics

Baccarat is one of the simplest live table games: you make one choice, then fixed rules play the hand.

The three main bets

Player
You win if the Player hand finishes closer to 9. Usually pays even money.
Banker
You win if the Banker hand finishes closer to 9. Usually pays even money minus a commission, often 5%. Some tables use a no-commission variant with a different rule instead.
Tie
You win if both hands finish level. Pays more, but ties are uncommon and the house edge is much higher.

How hands are counted

Aces count as 1, cards 2 to 9 at face value, and 10s and picture cards as 0. Only the last digit of the total counts: 7 + 8 = 15, which counts as 5. The best possible hand is 9.

The third-card rule, simply

Each side gets two cards. If either side has 8 or 9 (a "natural"), the hand ends. Otherwise the Player draws on 0 to 5 and stands on 6 or 7, and the Banker follows a fixed table based on its own total and the Player's third card. You never decide; the dealer applies the rule.

Practical notes

  • Check the table's commission rule and side-bet payouts in its help screen.
  • Scoreboards and "roads" show past results; they do not predict the next hand.
  • Rounds are fast. Decide in advance how many you will play.
